Top Five Inspirational Quotes for any Kenyan Youth Entrepreneur

I personally find that reading inspirational quotes from entrepreneurs that have struggled and become successful, inspires me. So today I want to share ten quotes that I think speak directly to any youth entrepreneurs out there struggling everyday to achieve their dreams; and what they mean to me.

I hope they are inspirational to you, they certainly are to me.

  1. Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles, it empties today of its strength.”

    – Corrie Ten Boom

I believe the lesson here is that you should not worry too much. Now I know that as an entrepreneur, worrying is part of us, just like breathing is ^_^. However, there is a kind of worry that’s really just stressful. So I worry a bit about the challenges that I face, then I put that worry aside and come up with a solution to the challenge, whether long-term or short-term. Once I have found a solution, or a way forward, I move on to the next issue at hand. I don’t dwell on the challenge and worry about it all the time. If you do, you lose your objective, fear sets in and so does doubt. And we all know after that, you can just spiral into a negative mind-set which can be fatal to your endeavours.

  2. It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.”

    – Aristotle Onassis

This is a quote that I feel speaks to me directly especially for the last few months. I had a major setback with my bakery and I felt like there was no way out, it was certainly a dark moment for me. However, I told myself to focus on the positive aspects of my business and life at that time and come up with positive solutions to my dilemma. It was tough, but I didn’t stop looking for the positive, and especially those moments when you truly feel all is lost, that is when I focused harder on the positive. I am glad that I did so (and continue to do so), and my business is on its way to a better direction, and this is because I did not give up hope. I didn’t stop searching and then focusing on that light, until I saw it.

  3. I believe in Pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.” – Audrey Hepburn.

This is another one of my favorite quotes, for two reasons; one is that I am an Audrey Hepburn fan (love her movies ^_^!). The second reason is that this quote speaks directly to female entrepreneurs. As tough as we are in business and even to ourselves, it’s alright to be feminine, to laugh and even to kiss ^_^. It’s also great because a lot of women are strong, and very positive and hopeful, especially during hard times (that seem to have no end). This quote also speaks to the beauty of a woman, it’s not about the outside beauty, it’s the inner beauty that matters – the happiness within. It’s also alright to believe in miracles – because they do happen.

  4. Everyone can rise above their circumstances and achieve success if they are dedicated to and passionate about what they do.” – Nelson Mandela.

I am a Nelson Mandela die-hard fan (who isn’t right?) So I love reading his quotes. I love this one (ofcourse, because it really applies to me ^_^) because it speaks to you when you feel like you’ve failed and you can’t get back up. If you feel this way, remember the passion you have for what you do, and if you’re really dedicated to your business; you will find a way to succeed – no matter what the challenges are.

  5. Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.” – Nelson Mandela.

This is a great quote that many successful entrepreneurs can attest to; many have failed and not given up, but came back and succeeded (a great example is – Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs…you get the picture). The reason why all this people are such great successes is because even though they failed (some numerous times), they never gave up, they kept pushing to find a solution for their challenges and found a way out. This motivates me to keep going no matter what -hoora!
