Don’t just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced, successful life.BY JOEL OMULLO

The life of an entrepreneur is a busy life because they have to work twice as much as the normal employed people. Entrepreneurs are willing to work 80-90hours a week to avoid working 40 hours in the process helping someone else achieve their dream which is brilliance that can only be achieved by those with the zeal to work extra hard.

Besides business, careers and academic goals man was created with the need to belong and have a healthy life socially, spiritually, mentally and psychologically. This calls for one to be able to balance their lives in a manner that fits into all the aspects therefore mentioned. Washington Mageto C.E.O and Founder of MagTech Inc. Shares with us that at a particular point in his life, his social life went a miss due to the fact that he was far consumed in his venture not to realize.

As a matter of fact most of his friends wondered where he was most of the time, in as much he also needed to socialize and cool things off after the hard work that comes with owning your own business. This later on made him change and he advises that if you are single and run your business give at least 65% of your time to your business and the rest of the time spare for fun, family, interactions and friends and if you happen to have a better half he says 50/50 will work best for you.

He says many people don’t seem to see the importance to spare time off business but from his experience it is quite detrimental thus as business minded people we should take heed. Mr. Mageto also involves in playing drums, loves adventure, driving in high speeds, sky diving and most of all loves doing anything that spreads the gospel of Jesus Christ out there.

Franklin Wallah C.E.O and Founder Arab City Collections LTD has a different perspective about how he spends his free time. Unlike Mr. Mageto who enjoys the thrill of life, Franklin loves fun with money making. If it is just fun like going out for drinks or just chilling he cannot be part of that for one he tells me he loves Photography, Video Shooting, Travelling and Marketing all this encompassed cater for his fun times. He can be out there taking pictures having fun, laughing, so much into the adrenaline but at the end of the day he gets something in his pocket. Both of them though with different perspectives agree to have a light moment outside the business.

To sum it all up, Mr. Ratan Tata Chairman Tata Group speaking at the Symbiosis Pune On the 11th day February 2015. Don’t just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give you a balanced, successful life. Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental peace are all in good order. There is no point of getting a promotion on the day of your breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions. Don’t take life seriously. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here. We are like a prepaid card with limited validity. If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years. And 50 years is just 2,500 weekends. Do we really need to get so worked up? It’s OK, Bunk few classes, score low in couple of papers, take leave from work, fall in love, and fight a little with your spouse… It’s ok… We are people, not programmed devices..! “Don’t be serious, enjoy Life as it comes.”
